Perburuan untuk memperebutkan gelar film terbaik sepanjang tahun 2010 resmi dimulai! Hollywood Foreign Press Association, malam ini, resmi mengumumkan daftar nominasi The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Untuk tahun ini, ajang penghargaan yang sering ditasbihkan sebagai ajang penghargaan paling bergengsi kedua setelah Academy Awards ini menempatkan film karya sutradara Tom Hooper, The King’s Speech, sebagai film dengan perolehan nominasi terbanyak. Dengan tujuh nominasi yang diperolehnya, The King’s Speech berhasil hampir mencakup seluruh nominasi yang tersedia untuk kategori film termasuk Best Picture – Drama, Best Director, Best Actor serta Best Screenplay.

Mengikuti di belakang The King’s Speech adalah drama adaptasi kisah nyata tentang petinju Mickey Ward, The Fighter. Memperoleh enam nominasi, The Fighter hampir selalu membuntuti jejak The King’s Speech di setiap kategori. Sayangnya, naskah cerita The Fighter harus mengaku kalah dengan tidak dinominasikan di kategori Best Screenplay. The Social Network juga mengikuti dengan perolehan nominasi di enam kategori, sementara Black Swan, Inception dan The Kids are All Right mendapatkan empat nominasi.

Baiklah… semenjak kemenangan Avatar di tahun lalu, Hollywood Foreign Press Association memang sepertinya tidak malu-malu lagi untuk menunjukkan bahwa mereka adalah sebuah organisasi yang memilih film yang lebih “populer” daripada film yang “berkualitas.” Untuk tahun ini, secara nyata dapat dilihat pada daftar nominasi Best Picture – Comedy or Musical, yang selain The Kids are All Right, diisi oleh film-film yang kebanyakan mendapatkan kritikan tajam para kritikus film dunia sepanjang tahun ini.

Anyway, Hollywood Foreign Press Association sendiri akan mengumumkan pemenang dari The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards pada 16 Januari 2011.
