The 82nd Annual Academy Awards Nominations

Film science fiction, Avatar, bersama film bertema perang Irak, The Hurt Locker, memimpin daftar nominasi The 82nd Annual Academy Awards. Kedua film tersebut berhasil meraih 9 nominasi termasuk untuk kategori Best Picture.

Selain Avatar dan The Hurt Locker, film-film lain yang mengisi daftar nominasi Best Picture adalah The Blind Side, District 9, An Education, Inglourious Basterds, Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire, A Serious Man, Up, dan Up in the Air. Sepuluh nominasi yang berada di daftar Best Picture Academy Awards untuk tahun ini menandai untuk pertama kalinya semenjak tahun 1944 bahwa daftar Best Picture diisi oleh 10 film.

STRANGE DAYS. James Cameron dan Kathryn Bigelow, yang dulu pernah menikah, kini harus saling berhadapan untuk memperebutkan gelar Best Director.

Sutradara kedua film tersebut, James Cameron dan Kathryn Bigelow, yang pernah menikah sebelumnya, juga akan saling berhadapan di kategori Best Director. Selain Cameron dan Bigelow, kategori Best Picture juga diisi oleh Quentin Tarantino (Inglourious Basterds), Lee Daniels (Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire) dan Jason Reitman (Up in the Air).

Di kategori Best Actress in a Leading Role, dua pemenang Golden Globe, Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side) dan Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia), akan saling bersaing bersama Carey Mulligan (An Education), Helen Mirren (The Last Station) dan Gabourey Sidibe (Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire). Aktor Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart) juga akan kembali berhadapan dengan pesaing terkuatnya, George Clooney (Up in the Air), di kategori Best Actor in a Leading Role, bersama Colin Firth (A Single Man), Morgan Freeman (Invictus) dan Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker).
